Widely Available Replacement: The Honeywell CM707

The best replacement for this model is the Honeywell CM927. This model has become rather difficult to find for sale online, unless buying in used condition. If that is the case, and you can't buy a 927, you can also swap the Chronotherm CM67NG with the Honeywell CM707 without much hassle. They generally have the same wiring setup. You can also replace the Honeywell CM51 with the CM 707.

Be careful though when mounting / fitting, as some buyers have said the back plate is quite fragile and not the best quality. But once fitted it does not have to be messed around with anymore so should sit trouble free for years to come. It should really have been made thicker to begin with in all honesty.

Older Gas Boilers Burn More Gas

Older Gas Boilers Burn More Gas. Central heating is run of the mill in many houses and flats in England. Whilst most are chugging along just fine their energy cost-efficiency could be a lot better with a few minimal tweaks to the homes heating system controls. The addition of an easy to use timer or a more advanced heating system programmer will allow you to automatically control when the heating and the hot water are running. If you're not familiar with using a programmer don't worry, they are easy to get the hang of. Fine tuning the schedules when gas is actively being used will help in saving you money on energy bills.

Adding room thermostats will help you to preserve the temperature in the dwelling without using more energy to make it warmer than needed. Once the desired temperature is achieved the heating system is automatically switched off, economizing energy usage. TRV valves can be fitted to individual radiators to calibrate individual room temperatures. This is beneficial in helping keep certain rooms lower in temperature than other rooms within the dwelling.

One of the main reasons of expensive gas bills, and a big culprit behind energy inefficiency can stem from the age of your gas boiler. The average life-span of a central heating boiler is approximately 10 -15 years. The excellent energy efficiency ratings of newer gas boilers shows just how much better they are than older ones.

They are much more economical. Condensing central heating boilers can use from between 15% - 45% less gas. They are clever in the fact that they pull out heat from the exhaust system gases and actually make use of it to heat the water in your home.
